This guide is for anyone who wants to know how to play Pumpkin Smash, the ultimate fall game.

First, you need to gather some supplies:

• One pumpkin for each player
• Knives or carving tools
• A large bowl or bucket
• A sturdy surface for carving (a countertop or table)
• Tape
• Sharpie or other marker
• Scissors
• Newspapers or a drop cloth to protect your work surface

Next, you'll need to download the Pumpkin Smash game rules and print them out. Or you can just follow along here.

To start, everyone takes a turn drawing an outline of a face on their pumpkin with a sharpie. Be sure to leave enough space at the top so you can cut a hole for the stem.

 Then, using a knife or other carving tool, start removing the pieces of the pumpkin that will be the teeth, nose and eyes. Try to make these as even as possible so they'll look nice when they're lit up.             Once all of the features are carved out, it's time to cut the hole for the stem. The easiest way to do this is to cut a triangular piece out of the top of the pumpkin and then remove the core. If your pumpkin has a particularly thick rind, you may want to use a saw or ax to chop through it. Be very careful when doing this – it's easy to slip and cut yourself!   Now it's time to carve out the light socket. This is what will hold the tea light in place. The easiest way to do this is to make two small cuts on either side of the light socket and then pry them open with a screwdriver or knife. You may have to trim some of the rind away so that it sits flat against the pumpkin. Finally, take your tea lights and insert them into each of the sockets. You may want to use some tape around the base of each light so that they don't fall out.
